The steps

1. Read the guides, use the tools

   Work out where you stand for free: what a consent order is, how Form D81 works, what a court looks at when it decides what is fair. The Fair-Split Calculator and the Settlement Checklist are free, no account needed.

2. Track your plan

   Answer a few questions about what you have filed and received, and your plan shows where you are, what happens next, and the typical wait from your stage. It lives on your device; we do not see it.

3. Decide if you want a second opinion

   Many straightforward, already-agreed cases can go ahead on the free guidance alone. If your situation involves pensions, a business, or one of you giving something up, a solicitor's opinion is usually worth having before you file.

4. Get matched, free

   Tell us you want a specialist opinion and we will match you with an independent family solicitor from our review panel, in practice in England and Wales. There is no cost to be matched and no obligation to instruct them.

5. You take it from there

   The solicitor works with you directly, on their own terms and their own fees. Settle Divorce does not draft your documents, advise on your case, or file anything with the court.
